“For me, the strength of a good painting is in how it can make you feel like you’re really there — in a different place, at a different time. I try to paint from the perspective of someone actually standing in the landscape, and I keep the composition close to how we naturally see the world. It doesn’t have to be perfect — the most important thing is that it gives someone a sense of being part of the scene.”

IWM2026 is August’s first appearance at International Watercolour Masters England, and his UK debut.
