“Through the process of drawing and painting I inspect, explore and celebrate physical manifestations of human endeavour. I am fascinated by junctions of materials and by the corrosive relationship between designed objects, patterns of use, and the passage of time. My work explores the world that we have built, it’s adaptation, and inevitable decay.
People are present in my paintings by implication. Generations move on, put up signs, and go out of business. Children throw stones and touch door frames which get dirty by the handle. Tools bare scars and grow weary with years of service. My paintings are love songs.”
2022 will be Mat Barber Kennedy’s first appearance at the International Watercolour Masters Exhibition.
