Jorge Corpuna 21 May 1 Day Workshop

A real privilege for IWM to host this very special Jorge Corpuna one day Workshop. The Peruvian Maestro is famous the world over for his amazing mountain and landscape painting. IWM2026 is Jorge’s UK and IWM debut. Jorge will bring you Big skies, Dramatic mountains, and wonderous lakes delivered in a joyful and poetic style.

PROGRAM

In this workshop, you’ll discover the essentials of watercolour painting—from getting to know the materials and how they work, to applying them on paper with confidence. Step by step, we’ll explore how to bring landscapes to life using different watercolour approaches.  We will practice the wet-on-wet technique to create depth and atmosphere,  and try out other fun variations that will help you paint with freedom and expression.

WORKSHOP PLAN

Getting to know the essentials: pigments, paper, brushes, and—most importantly—water. · Composition basics: how to arrange elements for balance and impact. · Palette choices: selecting colours that bring your landscapes to life. · Execution: step-by-step guidance through painting techniques. Together, we will interpret the natural landscape with a more sublime vision, exploring the unique possibilities offered by water, pigment, and paper. Through a blend of theory and hands-on demonstrations, we’ll journey from abstract stains to finished landscapes. Starting with quick, small format sketches and wash exercises, we’ll gradually move toward larger, more expressive works by the end of the day.
