Szczepan comes from an architectural background. His watercolours look beyond the rigid and detailed confines of his architectural training and his paintings explore qualities of light through contrasts in form, colour, and composition. His passion is painting en-plein-air as it drives like adrenalin to deliver immediate, fresh, bold, and deliberate responses to his subject matter and the changing conditions of the outdoors.
He continues to develop a broad range of subject material to supplement his love of architectural and urban themes – also exploring nautical and seascape themes alongside a lifelong fascination with sailing craft and old gaffers. His more recent works are exploring figurative elements connected with atmosphere and mood.
Szczepan’s paintings are regularly exhibited locally and internationally with his works now finding their way into collections around the globe.
